We choose a travel grill. Part 2

continuation. Read part 1 here

How much patience do you have to wait for the grill to cool?

Although it seems that this is not so important when buying a barbecue, the ability to drive after finishing grilling and eating allows you to be the master of your time. The weather has cooled down, the wind has started to rise, it has started to rain - you don't need to look for a shelter, a shelter, or think about how to cool the grill as quickly as possible without damaging it. Those who picnic with children will agree - their wishes and moods change much more often than the weather.

And where is the headache of how to put a dirty, sooty thing in the car and be sure that its interior will not only stay clean, but also not start to sweat. So if you are familiar with such situations, if you cook in a different place every time - choose metal grills. They cool much faster than ceramics. Well, if its construction is strong - in this case, you can even cool it with water.

Kamado grills, regardless of their size, stay hot for at least 3-4 hours. You will have to be patient, because even after removing the carbon residue from them (which is not very convenient), the ceramics themselves will be heated for a long time. Remember the ovens - the principle is the same. Also, a heated kamado is much more sensitive to shocks than a cooled one. Otherwise, and in the case of a metal grill, you cannot strictly try to cool it with water - it will break.

For those who are in a hurry to travel, we recommend choosing pellet, gas grills. For charcoal lovers, consider the COBB: its design makes it easy to remove the embers, and you can carry the grill in a bag or directly into the car and put it in in minutes. And without any fear of damaging car upholstery or other items in the trunk.

Comfortable carrying

Although not one of the most important, yet another aspect that you have to consider is the ability to comfortably move the grill to another place or to the car.

Larger, heavier grills often have wheels to help move them around. However, in order to reduce the cost of the product, a frequent manufacturer chooses them as small and cheap as possible. However, manufacturers who take their products seriously do so responsibly. Just look at the big, rough wheels on WEBER and NAPOLEON grills! What's more, these grills can be folded and transported like suitcases, so neither 100 nor 500m distance will be an obstacle to your most beautiful picnic spot.

Other grills may have large, conveniently located handles or bags (such as a COBB bag). However, even though it seems basic, it is not often thought of…

Fuel source

Electric, gas, pellet, coal - there is a lot to choose from. However, electric grills are the least suitable for travel: there are not everywhere rosettes, they are not where you want them. Gas grills are especially useful for those who want to cook immediately and adjust the temperature themselves. The gas cylinder is compact and fits comfortably in the car. In addition, if you plan to travel abroad, pay attention to the requirements of campsites and campsites: in many of them, charcoal grills of any kind, even the safest construction, are prohibited. Compliance with this rule is checked, and those who break it face a fine that makes their vacation bitter.

Some grills only have connections designed for disposable gas cylinders, others only for larger cylinders. Although replacing the gas connection system does not cost much, it will require some time and effort on your part. So if it is important to freely and conveniently change the type of balloon - choose those grills that have this thoughtful function.

Charcoal grills, while giving your food a unique smoky flavor every time, will require more of your time and well-meaning neighbors. After all, burning coal is impossible without more or less smoke. In addition, you won't be able to start cooking right away, and you won't be able to adjust the temperature as conveniently as with gas grills. Of course, the amount of smoke will be lower if you choose high-quality coal or coal briquettes. It emits very little smoke coconut charcoal briquettes or tablets.

Pellet grills are new in Lithuania. They are perfect for traveling, but the only downside is that you will need to prepare the pellets in advance and in sufficient quantities. If you can find coal or gas canisters/cylinders on the way, meanwhile, you can only buy pellets in specialized physical and e-stores.

One hundred percent convenience

Think about where and how you will bake. Will your grill be on the ground, will you be able to place it on a table, or will it be at a comfortable height. In addition, some grills heat up by themselves or embers can fall out of them - in this case, you will have to be very careful when grilling in the heat on dry grass, on a yacht or in a camper.

There is a large selection of grills that you can place anywhere, including the COBB, whose sides and bottom are always cool. It doesn't even melt ice, which we've proven many times (you can see, for example, here).

In addition, some manufacturers have specially improved their models so that they are suitable for both travel and grilling on the terrace: the grill can be removed from the cart and only the barbecue itself can be carried.
