Pork neck steak marinated with fresh thyme and honey

It's by the 2015 Lithuanian Barbecue Champion Nerijus Ižganaitis! For your judging pleasure, pork neck steak marinated with fresh thyme and honey.


  • 1 kg pork neck
  • 2-3 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 2-3 tbsp. honey
  • 1 a.s. smoked paprika powder
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 a.s. ground 5 kinds of pepper
  • 1 a.s. "Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tbsp salt


Nerijus Ižganaitis, the leader of the BBQ Legion, suggests to be more original - to make steaks instead of shashlykas from the neck.
Although the recipe uses everyday ingredients found in almost every kitchen, the preparation is simple and the result is fantastic! Genius lies in simplicity - a good old truth.

A simple but not bad recipe - pork neck steak marinated with fresh thyme and honey.

Cut the pork neck into 2-2,5 cm thick steaks. Place in a bowl and mix the chopped thyme, honey, smoked paprika powder, crushed garlic, pepper, mustard, oil and salt. Rub this marinade over the neck steaks and leave in the fridge for 4-6 hours. Once marinated, cook the steaks for 6-7 minutes at 200 degrees on a grill, grill pan or in the oven.
